Objective: recycle 70% of residual materials
Environment: "Naturally Sainte-Anne" on September 9
The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is committed to environmental sustainability and is launching its new waste management campaign entitled Small gestures for big changes.
At the Naturellement Sainte-Anne event on rue Sainte-Anne on September 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., an information kiosk will offer free leaflets and compost bags. In addition, an awareness wall will be set up to encourage participants to share their eco-responsible actions.
By participating in this initiative, each person will have the opportunity to enter a draw to win a $250 gift basket of eco-responsible items.
"Naturally Sainte-Anne is an ideal opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the town, strengthen our connection with nature and raise awareness among the whole family of the importance of preserving our environment.
"Sainte-Anne Street is a big part of our city's identity, and this event will be a great opportunity for all participants to discover once again what makes Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue a lively, healthy place to live," continued Ms. Hawa.
Starting in November, garbage collection will take place every two weeks, at all times. This change is designed to reduce the city's environmental footprint, while contributing to the achievement of the city's ambitious goal. By 2025, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue aims to have 70% of its residual materials recycled, compared with only 43% today.
For Paola Hawa, Mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, "It's our collective responsibility to take action to reduce our environmental footprint. Every gesture we make today is significant and helps ensure a better future for generations to come. With this in mind, I invite all my fellow citizens to inform themselves about good waste management practices and to become agents of change."
To raise public awareness of this transition, the city has taken the following steps:
- Creation of a detailed checklist to facilitate the sorting of materials,
- Updated information on regular collections on the city's website,
- Active participation in the Naturellement Sainte-Anne event to be held on Saturday, September 9, on rue Sainte-Anne.
The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue invites its citizens to take part in this initiative to preserve their environment and improve the management of residual materials. Every little gesture counts.
