L'Île-Perrot: a first candidate enters the electoral race
A by-election is looming in L'Île-Perrot, following the departure of District 5 Councillor Kim Comeau. Voters will be called to the polls in October, and the first candidate, a young resident in his thirties, has officially entered the race.
Olivier Prégent's main objective in running for the municipal council is to maintain a young, dynamic voice within the town's decision-making body.
Olivier Prégent explains his motivation in these terms: "Young people are often under-represented in municipal politics. I think it's crucial to offer a voice to all generations in the district by addressing issues that affect us all and encouraging citizen participation in democratic life."
With a university degree in urban planning and development project management, he acts as project manager for a local city, coordinating large-scale projects and drafting applications for financial assistance. Olivier Prégent has in-depth knowledge of the municipal environment. His keen interest in public service is what drew him to this election campaign.
Having grown up on the island, he has also been a member of the town's Comité consultatif d'urbanisme for almost two years. His passion for politics, nurtured from an early age, has led him to take the next step in running for office.
Olivier Prégent expresses his commitment with conviction: "It is with deep commitment and unwavering determination that I wish to work with the current council. My aim is to play an active part in decision-making on issues that are particularly close to my heart, such as the city's development, traffic and mobility management, sound resource management, as well as the quality of life of our fellow citizens."
Citizen participation is at the heart of Olivier Prégent's approach, as he wishes to make this election a genuine dialogue between himself and the residents of District 5.
For this reason, he will be making a variety of communication methods available so that citizens can share their ideas and concerns: by telephone at (438) 888-7176, by e-mail at [email protected], or via his Facebook page.
Voters in District 5 will have the opportunity to go to the polls on Advance Polling Day, Sunday October 8, followed by the main election on October 15.
