The building should be operational by the end of 2023
Construction of Vaudreuil-Dorion's new fire station progresses well
Reconstruction of Vaudreuil-Dorion fire station number 11, also known as the Lotbinière fire station, is progressing well.
On September 2, well-known photographer and Vaudreuil-Dorion resident Christian Gonzalez visited the site to immortalize the progress of the work.
As can be seen from his photo, the exterior cladding work is progressing well. Exterior landscaping and planting will be completed by the end of the summer, says the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion. The building should be operational by the end of the year.
The architecture of the building has been entrusted to Architectes Labonté Marcil, construction is being carried out by Espace Construction, landscape architecture is being designed by Rousseau Lefebvre, while electromechanical engineering/civil structure is being entrusted to FNX-INNOV.
Fire station 11 will become the 2nd fire station, with personnel on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to cover the urban territory of Vaudreuil-Dorion. It will also serve the municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades.
Reconstruction work began in 2021 with the demolition of the old building, which dated from 1966 and no longer met the needs of the fire department.
At present, crews and equipment are housed in temporary premises nearby.
The Vaudreuil-Dorion Fire Department has a total staff of 70, including 12 managers and 4 prevention technicians, as well as 4 full-time, 24-hour firefighting teams and part-time assistance teams.
