On August 27, the traditional TD Summer Reading Club of Vaudreuil-Dorion party at Le 405 park brought together 450 library users. In addition to participation draws, grand prizes were awarded at the closing party to Honael Polidor and Jules Brinjean (La Ribouldingue game set and gift certificate) and Joannie Bélanger and Samuel Giasson (Nintendo Switch).

The very popular "Illustrate your story" contest attracted the interest of 178 young people. Fifteen drawings received a "Coup de cœur" mention, while five participants saw their work adorn the library bookmarks: Jules Brinjean, aged 2, Martin Molina, aged 6, Élie Gareau, aged 9, Nabil Najm, aged 12, and Miranie Faucher, aged 14.

The literary bingo and Biblio-brico activities offered on Fridays by the clerks were also a great success throughout the summer.

The popularity of this event reflects the club's dynamism year after year, with 778 young people aged 17 and under taking part this summer. Of these, 363 were first-time participants.

As a reward for their sustained efforts in reading throughout the summer, the youngsters were treated to an African percussion show, as well as numerous activities at Parc Le 405: hot dogs, sno-kones, inflatable games, giant games, a balloon-sculpting clown, face painters, a photobooth with Le Lab in the Caravane Mozaïk, and more.

From June 17 to August 20, 21,415 documents were borrowed by club members, 1,876 more than in 2022. "I'd like to thank the children and their parents for their enthusiasm for the book club. It's a pleasure to see all these youngsters preserving their reading habits acquired during the school year.

"I wish to acknowledge the work of the entire library staff, for whom summer is a very busy season. From purchasing and preparing documents to organizing activities and registering members, everyone contributes to making the book club a much-anticipated event at the end of the school year," explained Annick Lemay, head of the library division at the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion.
