Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: one lane open towards Montreal over the upcoming weekend
The headache for drivers will continue on the weekend of September 8, when only one lane will be available for Montreal-bound traffic on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge. However, two lanes will be open westbound.
According to the communications department of the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable, this restriction is required for concreting operations on shore beams under the traffic lanes.
The closure will be in effect from Friday, September 8 at 10 p.m. until Monday, September 11 at 5 a.m.
Episodes of congestion are to be expected. A police presence, increased signage and coordination with other nearby worksites are planned to limit the impact on traffic, but the Ministry recommends that road users who will have to travel in the area allow extra time to reach their destination.
The Ministry is continuing its work to reopen a fifth lane on the bridge and restore dynamic traffic management.
An update on the timing of the reopening of a fifth lane, which will maintain three lanes in the peak direction, will be provided in the coming weeks.
