Council authorizes several expenses for the coming months
Several projects to come this fall in Saint-Zotique
At the regular meeting of the Saint-Zotique municipal council held on Tuesday, August 29, elected officials authorized the awarding of several contracts related to Technical Services and Environmental Health.
The first contract was for Professional Services to repair the paving on various streets. A $31,198.47 contract was awarded to Gespro Groupe Conseil to draw up plans and specifications for paving work on five local streets identified as priorities in the Municipality's Master Plan.
The second authorized expenditure will also be awarded to Gespro Groupe Conseil for its expertise in the demolition of the Maison des Optimistes, which will begin shortly. The site will make way for the Maion de la famille, which will set up its new offices there. An amount of nearly $6,000 has been awarded for this project.
Construction et Expertise PG has also been asked by the Municipality of Saint-Zotique to provide quality control for the pumptrack construction project. The pumptrack will be installed in the Parc Quatre-Saison near the refrigerated skating rink. A sum of $7,747.02 will be paid to WSP in exchange for this support.
For its part, WSP will receive $114, 581, 79 for its Professional Canal Dredging Services. "We can't clean all the canals in the same year. You have to prioritize, and that's what this company is mandated to do," says Mayor Yvon Chiasson.
The paving of five streets is also on the agenda for Saint-Zotique this autumn.Roxboro, a well-known local firm, was the lowest compliant bidder at $457,919.39. Rue Principale, which runs along the waterfront, 2nd Avenue, 2nd Street on the east side and 37th and 38th Avenues will all be resurfaced by November.
Also this fall, at a cost of $94,561.19, Lesage Excavation will lay a concrete slab for the technical building at Parc Quatre-Saison.This building will house the zamboni used to clean the refrigerated ice rink, as well as changing rooms and a toilet for users of this infrastructure.
With the arrival of the new high school in the area of 26th Avenue and 20th Street, the Municipality must proceed with the relocation of the bicycle path in this sector.Efel Experts-Conseils will carry out the work for a fee of $63,236.25, financed from the unrestricted fund.
On the eve of the demolition of the Maison des optimistes, located a stone's throw from the Caisse Desjardins, the Municipality of Saint-Zotique awarded a mandate to K.S.A. Électrique Inc. in the order of $15,194.08. "Currently, the electrical system serving the Maison des optimistes is the same as the park behind it.Consequently, if we demolish the premises without making any modifications, the park will no longer be supplied with electricity. Before demolishing the building, the Maison des Optimistes' electrical system must be made independent of that of the park. Afterwards, we'll be able to demolish the premises without affecting the park," explained the mayor.
One of the largest expenditures authorized in August was undoubtedly for dredging work at the mouths of municipal canals S2 on 65th Avenue, S3 on 68th Avenue and S4 on 81st Avenue. This amounted to $509,454.33 and was not included in the initial budget.Its purpose is to properly dispose of the sediment collected during the work. Transportation is included.
