The calm that normally reigns on rue Lalonde in Les Coteaux was disturbed late last night when a vehicle parked there fell prey to flames. According to the Sûreté du Québec, the blaze may be of criminal origin.
The fire broke out at around 11:19 p.m., destroying a 2006 Saturn. "Elements found on site lead us to believe that it could be arson. A technician and an investigator will be dispatched today to try to shed light on the causes and circumstances," confirms Sûreté du Québec spokesman Louis-Philippe Ruel.
According to our information, a gasoline container was burning on the other side of the street at the same time as the burnt-out car.
No injuries were reported. The fire has not spread elsewhere, and no suspects have been apprehended at the time of writing.
The owner of the vehicle is an employee of a local supermarket.
