With the start of the new school year just a few days away, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable is still unable to confirm when dynamic traffic management will return to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.

"An update on the work schedule and the timing of the reopening of a fifth lane will be provided in the coming weeks.  The Ministry reiterates that its objective is to restore dynamic traffic management, allowing three lanes to be maintained in the peak direction, as soon as the required reinforcement work has been carried out, but it will never compromise the safety of road users and workers," Miguel Vizcaino-Dubé, Communications Advisor at the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, confirmed to Néomédia.

No increase in loads on the bridge is possible during the current reinforcement work.

Since December 2022, only two lanes have been open to traffic in each direction on the bridge linking Vaudreuil-Dorion to Senneville, causing headaches for thousands of motorists.

What's more, since January 29, lanes have been cut back on the approach to the bridge, in both directions. These lanes are now reserved for emergency vehicles and buses.

It is not yet known whether lanes will be cut back again during the winter due to snow accumulation, as was the case at the beginning of the year.

It should be remembered that the work currently being carried out on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, at a cost of $43.7 million, is mainly to maintain the bridge in "good condition" until the opening of the new bridge, scheduled for partial opening in 2026.

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

Another project impacting Vaudreuil-Soulangeois is the completion of the Rue des Pins viaduct in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, where work will continue until November.

Partial and complete night-time closures on weekends are therefore to be expected in both directions. In fact, a closure is scheduled for this Friday and throughout the weekend. Patience will be required on the local road network.

Rue des Pins is also closed between Poultry Cottages and Chemin Sainte-Marie.
