Quebec's U15 team, including 14-year-old Vaudreuil-Dorion resident Jacob Roy (from Les Jaquars Minor Lacrosse Association), won the bronze medal at the National Paddock Lacrosse Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan last week!

When asked about this, Jacob admits, "It's a really good feeling to win". At the age of 14, Jacob is a sports enthusiast. He also plays hockey, football and flag football "My mom played high-level basketball, and my dad played hockey," he says. So, like his brother Tristan, Jacob became interested in sports through example.

Jacob attends Westwood high school in Saint-Lazare and is integrated into the MatriX enriched program. He starts Grade 9 next fall. His mother regularly accompanies him to competitions.

This would be Quebec's first medal in nearly 50 years!  Quebec is a province with few players (around 1,200, including juniors and seniors, compared with Ontario, which has around 40,000). So a bronze medal is no mean feat.

Jacob Roy will also represent Quebec at the National Field Lacrosse Championships on Labour Day weekend in Prince Edward Island in the M17 category. This makes him one of the youngest players selected.

His brother Tristan Roy, 16, will be competing in the U19 category at the same championships, September 1-3.
