Retractable, they will be removed this winter and replaced in spring
Two new installations on Chemin du Fleuve in Coteau-du-Lac to slow traffic down
In recent weeks, the City of Coteau-du-Lac has implemented a new traffic calming measure on chemin du Fleuve, between rue Marlène and rue De Beaujeu. The addition of two sets of retractable bollards follows requests from local residents.
The same area was the focus of a high-speed police chase on August 17, 2022, which resulted in a BEI investigation and two serious injuries.
Slow down on this narrow, winding stretch of road
By e-mail, the City of Coteau-du-Lac clarified some information about this new added measure that takes place west of De Beaujeu Street. Here's their response:
This approach has been implemented to slow down traffic in this sector. This stretch of road, which is narrow and winding, is often the scene of speeding. Our intervention also responds to requests we have received from citizens.
These installations are retractable and will be removed in winter, and probably replaced in spring.
Costs are fairly low. We are using inexpensive bollards that we already had in stock.
Our team estimates that around 1,500 vehicles use this stretch of road every day.
