Resident of Saint-Lazare from 2003 until his death in 2013, Bryan Liew deeply influenced local athletes, young and old. As coach for the Hudson/St-Lazare Running and Athletics Club, as well as the athletics club for Westwood Junior High School, he generously gave his time during his years in the area. His infectious enthusiasm for running brought many to the sport and his remarkable passion, as well as his natural leadership led many athletes to surpass their limits.
Bryan Liew was dedicated to the development of each athlete with whom he interacted, considering everyone on an equal footing, never leaving anyone out. He will remain an inspiration to all athletes, an example of undisputed leadership.
The Bryan Liew Foundation, created in 2013 by the race organizers, Claudia Wagner and Patrick Lepage, as well as Bryan Liew’s wife, Elizabeth Harder, has as its goal to promote amateur sports among the population of Vaudreuil-Soulanges and to assist in the development sports infrastructures in the region. “The ultimate goal is to collect enough funds to initiate the building of a synthetic running track in the region” reports Patrick Lepage. The cost of this project is high, but having an amount to start with will help convince the elected officials of the city to move forward with this project.”
