Sunday, August 27 at Anse-aux-Rivard and Jacques-Cardinal parks
Cultural diversity at the heart of the 8th edition of the GRANDE FÊTE DU MONDE
After a few years' break, the eighth edition of LA GRANDE FÊTE DU MONDE will take place on Sunday, August 27, presented by Salle Pauline-Julien.
The event is organized in collaboration with the borough of L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève and the Société patrimoine et histoire de L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève.
With numerous activities on cultural diversity and free shows, this festive day is always eagerly awaited by young and old alike. The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at Anse-aux-Rivard and Jacques-Cardinal parks, rain or shine.
Admission is free. The grand collective picnic opens the festivities. Those interested are invited to bring their own lunch. Food stalls (for a fee) and free surprises will also be available on site. Face-painting, inflatable games and percussion workshops are sure to please the young ones.
With its themed musical ambience, THE GREAT WORLD PARTY will be a great opportunity for encounters and exchanges between different cultures. A number of cultural community kiosks will be organized by the Borough.
Performances will take place throughout the afternoon to keep participants entertained. At 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., the street theater show Les Voyageurs de Kaoso will integrate the public under the umbrellas. An ensemble performance and a close-up theater are created at the same time, allowing complicity with spectators and protecting them from the inevitable downpour.
Don't miss the impressive circus show BRANCHÉ, by Cirque Barcode and Acting for Climate, starting at 2pm. Eight artists will lead spectators through the park in an acrobatic celebration of nature that also reflects the challenges humanity is currently facing with the climate crisis (pass required for this activity, available on pauline-julien.com).
Starting at 4 p.m., it's time to dance to the lively rhythms of Pastourelles, a world music show featuring Daniel Bellegarde and his musicians.
Other activities include a bread-making demonstration by historian and baker Émilie Roy-Element," explains André Laniel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société patrimoine et histoire de L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève. The tour of the church crypt with the village "storyteller" begins at 1:30 p.m., departing every 30 minutes. Also, the lovely Évangéline will be inviting people to play the game of delivering mail with illegible addresses at the Mémoire de facteur exhibition at the Espace patrimoine et histoire house. Finally, come and admire some twenty antique cars in the church parking lot.
Salle Pauline-Julien's SOUTH parking lot will be available for the event. In the event of light rain, the event will still take place. Please dress appropriately for the weather. No glass containers will be allowed on site.
