The 41st edition of Firefighters' Day still go on despite the possibility of rain, said Pincourt Mayor Claude Comeau.
Mayor Comeau confirmed to Néomédia that the parade of emergency vehicles that kicks off the day-long festivities will definitely take place. The mayor will be in the lead emergency vehicle throughout the parade.
While the chance of rain may dampen the festivities somewhat, the event will have to be cancelled in the event of a storm, lightning or thunder, said Vicky Sauvé, the town's Director of Communications and Citizen Relations.
The procession will begin at Le Faubourg de l'île at noon and snake its way through the town before arriving at its final destination at Bellevue Park.
The town is asking homeowners along the parade route to remove any bulk waste, branches, bins, objects and vehicles on the side of the road of their properties to make the road accessible and safe for everyone.
A wide range of activities for young and old will be available at the park throughout the afternoon and into the evening including inflatable games and a picnic area.
Food gourmands will also have the opportunity to sample a wide array of tasty treats from several vendors.Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Steve Watt and Gregory Charles and his guests.
The day-long festivities will be capped off with the town's signature fireworks display which will take place at 10 p.m.
