Four exhibitions to discover this summer at the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is delighted to welcome young and old this summer to its magnificent heritage building for a tour of its four exhibition halls.
We often think of a trip to the Museum on a rainy day, but it's also the perfect activity to do in the cool air-conditioning on a hot summer's day," says the museum institution in a press release.
This summer, take advantage of the final weeks of the exhibition The Origins of Cinema and travel to the Vaudreuil of the last century by following in the footsteps of Germaine St-Denis. Immerse yourself in the eight universes of artists from the Le Cercle 9 collective in the Instants d'atelier exhibition. Finally, take a trip back in time to the village's first boys' school and discover the history of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. With the family kit, children can discover each of these rooms in a fun way.
Exhibition The origins of cinema or when images began to move
On view until August 20, this exhibition features some 50 selected objects from Martin Châteauvert's private collection. These objects, which have become veritable works of art, bear witness to the great era of pre-cinema, when passionate visionaries multiplied inventions of all kinds to recreate real life, make still images move and thus give birth to movement on screens.
Instants d'atelier exhibition
Installations, sculptures, paintings, drawings and linocuts come together perfectly in this exhibition, where each of the eight artists has his or her own dedicated space. Come and discover this magnificent exhibition, which runs until September 10 . The participating artists are : Richard Caplette from Rigaud, Diane Collet from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Manon Côté from Les Cèdres, Stéphan Daigle and Annouchka Gravel Galouchko from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Gabriel Lalonde and Francine Vernac from Coteau-du-Lac and Claudine Ascher from Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
Sur les traces de Germaine St-Denis photographe exhibition
This exhibition is a tribute to Germaine St-Denis (1896-1981), an exceptional woman who lived in Vaudreuil. She left her mark on the community in many ways, not least through her photographs, taken at a time when photography was not yet within everyone's reach, let alone that of a woman. A selection of her most evocative shots are featured in this exhibition, on view until December 22.
Par les fenêtres de l'école exhibition... Glimpses into our history (permanent)
Proud of its mandate to promote and disseminate the history and art of living of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, the Museum presents its permanent exhibition highlighting the history of human occupation and development of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory.
Using the heritage building occupied by the Museum and the school as a pretext for discovering the region, the exhibition is designed around four themes presenting various facets of the development and history of this vast territory. Using objects and artefacts from the permanent collection and a rich iconography, this exhibition invites visitors to discover the evolution of different aspects of human activity.
