Whether you're a keen astronomer or not, tonight's full moon is sure to surprise you.
You'll be able to admire it from the southwest. At its apogee, the moon will be 357,530 km from Earth, according to NASA experts.
The Sturgeon supermoon will rise shortly after 8.50 pm, finally giving way to the sun at around 6.18 am.
But why the "sturgeon moon"? Quite simply because it occurs at a time of year when, historically, indigenous populations fished for the largest freshwater fish, the sturgeon.
