Four railroad crossings are targeted
The Canadian Pacific will no longer whistle in Saint-Polycarpe
After 13 years of discussion, the Canadian Pacific train will no longer whistle in Saint-Polycarpe.
Initiated in 2010, the procedures to abolish train whistling at the Chemin Sainte-Marie, Chemin de Beaujeu, Chemin de l'Église and Chemin Élie-Auclair crossings finally came to a conclusion last June, when the municipal council adopted a resolution authorizing the signature of an agreement between the two organizations for the abolition of train whistling.
A first resolution had been passed in June 2022, but it would appear that this one has not been finalized. Mayor Jean-Yves Poirier explained last June that a change in personnel, especially in the Municipality's general management, had forced the latter to table a new resolution.
However, the train, which crosses the municipality via the Cité-des-Jeunes road, will continue to whistle.
Despite several attempts, Néomédia has been unable to confirm when the said agreement will come into force, and whether such an agreement could apply to Canadian National or VIA Rail.
