Jeux du Québec: A second medal for the Sud-Ouest
The South-West delegation won its second medal in athletics on Monday, thanks to coteaulac athlete Mia Douhou.
With a time of 25.84 in the 200-meter event, Mia Douhou took second place on the podium, earning her the silver medal.
Also in athletics, Mikaella Martin (Vaudreuil-Dorion), finished 8th in the 200-meter steeplechase and 7th in the 1,500-meter race. Teammates Anabel Dubreuil-Bissonnette (Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot) and Norah Martin (Vaudreuil-Dorion) finished 20th and 21st respectively, the former in the 100-meter hurdles and the latter in the 1,500 meters.
Brianna Chevalier (Saint-Lazare) also distinguished herself in the long jump, where she came 16th, and in the triple jump, where she finished 12th. In the javelin throw, Brianna Chevalier came 21st.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Philomène Richard (Vaudreuil-Dorion) came 11th.
In the boys' event, Antoine Robichaud (Les Cèdres) finished 26th and 28th in the triple jump and 200-meter hurdles. In the latter event, Raphaël Courteau (Les Coteaux) came 20th.

Road cycling
Cyclists don't have a day off. Under the blazing Rimouski sun, Hugo Héroux (Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot) finished 31st in his category, U15, in the road race event.
In the U17 category, Christophe Massé (Coteau-du-Lac), Logan Malette (Les Coteaux) and Étienne Croze (Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot) finished 24th, 34th and 35th.
Beach volleyball
Our beach volleyball players were also in action on Monday. The boys added two wins to their tally, one against Abitibi and the other against Estrie. Unfortunately, they lost to the Centre-du-Québec team.
In the girls' category, our players won against the Laurentians. Mauricie, however, won the second match of the day.
Open water swimming
In the 5km open water classic, Alberto Enrique Moreno Zambrano (Vaudreuil-Dorion) and Frédérique Lauzon (Saint-Lazare) finished 24th and 21st in their respective categories.
Swimming
In the 200-meter freestyle, Rayan Saad (Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot) placed 25th, while in the 100-meter freestyle, Anne Vaillancourt (Vaudreuil-Dorion) and Lilly D'Amico (Vaudreuil-Dorion) finished 13th and 36th respectively.
Baseball
In the quarter-finals, our baseball players handily won their two games with scores of 10-1 and 13-3 against teams from Montreal and Lanaudière.
Their excellent results have enabled them to look forward to the final, to be held this Monday. They will face the Laval team.
Basketball
Finally, in basketball, our girls lost to Mauricie with a score of 56-46, while the boys won their match against Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean with a score of 57-40.
What's on this Tuesday
The swimmers will be competing in the relay event, and in baseball, the boys will be trying to get their hands on the gold medal.
