Rue Lippé: no reopening planned for the moment
The cause of the collapse of a portion of rue Lippé in Les Coteaux last Saturday is still unknown.
In a communication sent to Néomédia, the person in charge of communications, Geneviève Juillet, confirmed that the Municipality was still awaiting the analysis report from the Ministère de la Sécurité publique. This should be submitted in the next few days.
"For the time being, it is still not possible to take rue Lippée to get to Saint-Polycarpe. Road users - cars, bikes and pedestrians alike - have to take Delisle", explains Ms Juillet.
This is not the first time an event of this kind has occurred on the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory. In 2018, Chemin Élie-Auclair was also closed for several weeks due to a roadway collapse.
"Shoreline stability remains an issue that affects many Quebec municipalities. To this end, the Municipalité des Coteaux is working closely with the Ministère de la Sécurité publique to identify early warning signs of potential problems," adds Ms. Juillet.
Indeed, the most recent visits to the site by the relevant authorities suggested that the situation was under control. But Mother Nature has decided otherwise.
"We'll be monitoring the situation closely and taking action as recommended by the relevant authorities. What's more, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC will also be making site visits to ensure that there are no obstacles to the free flow of the Delisle River," concludes Geneviève Juillet.
