More than 70 athletes from the region will be competing against Quebec's most promising athletes at the 57th Jeux du Québec Finals in Rimouski, from July 21 to 29.

Mathias Robichaud will have the honor of carrying the flag for the Sud-Ouest delegation at the opening ceremony, which will mark the start of the festivities for this major sporting event.

The Cedars-born runner will compete in the 800m, 1500m and
2000m steeplechase, as well as competing in the relays. "Last year, I was at the Laval Games to have fun and gain experience. This year, it's different. I had some great results on the circuit last year. I'm coming ready and determined," explains the youngster who distinguished himself at the recent Canadian indoor track and field championships in Saint-John, New Brunswick, with a silver medal in the 800m.

In Rimouski, a new discipline is on the program: women's baseball. The Sud-Ouest delegation will be well represented, with a team created specifically for the tournament, including players from Soulanges.

In all, the region will be represented in 15 sports disciplines, divided into two blocks. 

From July 21 to 25, the competing disciplines will be: 

Athletics;
Men's baseball
Women's basketball;
Men's basketball;
Road cycling;
Swimming;
Open water swimming;
Triathlon;
Women's beach volleyball;
Men's beach volleyball.

Finally, from July 25 to 29: 

Women's baseball;
Women's golf
Women's soccer;
Men's soccer;
Mountain biking;
Women's volleyball;
Sailing.

Here's the list of young athletes who will be representing Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

"The Games are an opportunity to excel. The coaches and support staff are there for our athletes. The City of Rimouski has gone to great lengths to welcome us, with breathtaking sports facilities. We've got a great playing field, so all we have to do is make the most of it," says Antoine Lépine-Perreault, head of the Sud-Ouest delegation and leisure advisor at Loisir et Sport Montérégie.
