Nearly $1.3 million extra for the Centre sportif Soulanges
The Minister responsible for Sport, Recreation and the Outdoors, Isabelle Charest, has granted additional financial assistance of $1 291 749 to the Municipality of Saint-Polycarpe for the Centre sportif Soulanges renovation project.
Mayor Jean-Yves Poirier made the announcement on July 10 at the regular meeting of the municipal council. Estimated at $8.6 million, the project has already received a $4.3 million subsidy from the two levels of government.
A socio-financing campaign was also launched in April 2022.
A major project
Built in 1981, the CSS has never undergone major renovations. During an inspection of the premises, the commissioned engineers identified some forty non-compliant points.
These included non-individual showers and access for people with reduced mobility.
In addition to bringing the building up to standard, the project includes refitting the community room, bar, sports locker room, restaurant and entrance hall.
Windows and exterior cladding will be replaced, and a green roof will be installed. The ventilation and heating system will also be overhauled, as will the ice refrigeration system.
