Summer courses and exam retakes
The Alloprof squad is on duty even during the summer months

July is vacation time for most Quebec students, but for nearly 20,000 young people, it's summer courses and exam preparation that await them.
This year, Alloprof met with 7,000 young people - twice as many as last year - to help them discover the best resources for their needs. Until July 31, 2023, Alloprof will be open to offer tutoring to failing students.
Proven tools for overcoming difficulties
Whatever the subject, Alloprof's team of teachers is on hand to answer students' questions by chat, text or telephone, Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The website also offers a host of exercises to consolidate material and make sure you've got it right, as well as mock exams in Secondary 4 math and science.
"The tool of choice for overcoming academic difficulties is our interactive online retrievals, called MiniRécups. Since their creation, the number of concepts covered has grown steadily, because we know that this is an effective tool for revising and practising problematic concepts," explains the spokeswoman.
A second chance for many students
Last summer, more than 18,500 high school students took rewritten exams in Quebec. By far the most popular was the single exam in French, language of instruction in Secondary 5, followed by science and technology, and mathematics Culture, société et technique (CST).
"For students, learning that they will have to take summer courses or retake exams means cancelling a vacation, having to stay indoors, missing out on valuable first work experiences... not the prospect of a great summer. On the other hand, Alloprof believes that for many of them, summer courses and retake exams represent a golden opportunity to reinforce their knowledge, consolidate what they've learned and have an extra chance to pursue the next step in their academic career," says the spokeswoman.
A call to help young people succeed
Alloprof is calling on the entire Quebec community to help support the efforts of these vulnerable young people and help them succeed. An online donation of $50 enables the organization to provide more than 300 school accompaniments.
"It's important for Alloprof that its services remain free of charge, since disadvantage is, unfortunately, a factor in academic difficulty and failure at school. Donations enable us to visit even more young people in the classroom and provide extra support to those students who need it most," adds Eveline Trudel-Fugère.
Ways to avoid the learning slide
It's important for young people to get a good summer's rest and recharge their batteries. But for many of them, ten weeks off school can mean a setback in learning - the notorious summer slide.
Parents who want to take advantage of this time to consolidate their children's learning can discover Alloprof's activities to prevent the summer slide, so they can return to school confidently next September.
Grandparents can also take inspiration from her suggestions for learning while having fun with their grandchildren.
