The accident occurred during a qualifying race in the Hydro 350 class
Régates de Valleyfield: a harmless swerve to kick off the 2023 edition
The first race of the 2023 edition of the Régates de Valleyfield got underway at noon. The last race will take place at Delpha-Sauvé Park around 4:05pm.
The first category to get into the action around noon was the Grand Prix. Here's the qualifying schedule for the day:
- 12:30 p.m.: Hydro 350;
- 12.45pm: Hydro 350;

- 13h25: 2.5. liters;

The pilot Mickael Leboeuf from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, had problems that prevented him from taking part in the qualifications in the Hydro 350 class.
Another pilot in this class, Mickael Tremblay, broke into a cold sweat when his boat overturned at the 2nd buoy on the course. The swerve brought the race to a halt, but fortunately had no serious consequences for the driver. The pilot, aboard the water ambulance, waved to the crowd.
In the end, it was the Boutin Harley-Davidson boat that finished first in this category.

Tonight, La Bronze will take to the stage to entertain spectators from 8:30pm, before handing over the stage to Fouki at 10pm. The Hydro 350 class riders will be introduced to the crowd between the two performances, at 9:30pm.
