New boat cleaning station installed at Parc de la Maison-Valois

Par John Jantak, Journaliste
Watercraft users who frequent Parc de la Maison-Valois in Vaudreuil-Dorion can now use the brand-new cleaning station recently installed on site.
The cleaning station is an initiative by the city to help limit the spread of invasive exotic aquatic species from one body of water to another. It is fitted with a brush and located near the rental container.
A boat on the water is considered "contaminated". Various organisms
can remain attached to it and on nautical equipment such as flotation jackets and oars. Once transported, they threaten to contaminate other bodies of water.
The city recommends using the following procedure for cleaning a boat and nautical equipment:
1 - Inspect your equipment and remove any organisms clinging to it.
2 - Drain any accumulated water in the equipment (e.g. boots, nets, coolers) and empty any water that may be on the boat.
3 - Brush the boat to remove debris and any Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) and put them in the trash.
4 - Repeat these steps after each boat trip.
