Instants d'atelier
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges presents the Le Cercle 9 collective
Until September 10, 2023, the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges will present the exhibition, Instants d'atelier, by the artist collective Le Cercle 9. Installations, sculptures, paintings, drawings and linocuts rub shoulders in this room, where each of the eight artists has its own dedicated space.
The exhibiting artists are : Richard Caplette from Rigaud, Diane Collet from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Manon Côté from Les Cèdres, Stéphan Daigle and Annouchka Gravel Galouchko from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Gabriel Lalonde and Francine Vernac from Coteau-du-Lac andClaudine Ascher from Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
"All the Circle 9 artists have long been familiar with their creative universe and its specificities. Not that they have determined the parameters rationally after serious reflection, but rather by experience and intuition through long practice: artistic research being a process turned towards the inner life and calling on the intelligence of the body," explains Stéphan Daigle, one of the artists and a member of the group.
"Their different sensibilities, nurtured by their solitary journeys into the meanders of the collective soul, then reforged by the labor of creation in the secrecy of their studios, express themselves with the power of the desire for transcendence and the conviction of reaching that summit, at least for a moment, each time a work in progress reaches its culmination. As equilibrists of the imaginary, the artists of Le Cercle 9 present in this exhibition testimonies of their various inner journeys: those magical moments when they seemed to find in the realization of a work a moment of perfect adequacy with the universe", he continues.
What is Le Cercle 9?
Le Cercle 9 is a group of experienced visual artists with affirmed styles and confirmed professional statuses who are residents of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC or have a deep desire to get involved in its artistic community.
In 2018, it originally had 9 members: hence its name. Le Cercle 9 aims to promote the work of its members, to stimulate their creativity and to generate healthy emulation through the confrontation of their work.
The group intends to offer its members more opportunities to present their work to wider audiences, and to enable each member to conceive and realize artistic projects that are stimulating for themselves and for the group.
A clay workshop will be given by Claudine Ascher on Wednesday, August 2, at a cost of $10 or $8 for Museum members. The artist talk will take place on Sunday, August 20.
