The Town of Pincourt would like to know the water consumption habits of its citizens. To do so, it wishes to obtain a significant sampling by installing water meters at residences whose owners wish to take part in the survey.

In the current context, periods of drought are causing problems for the production and distribution of drinking water. The Town of Pincourt believes that it is imperative to review the use of this resource in order to stabilize reserves and avoid water shortages.

According to the municipal administration, the installation of water meters would be a good way for the community to become aware of its real water consumption.

The community reacts

The city informed residents of its new project via its alert platform. Many residents were quick to share their views on the web.

While many see the installation of water meters as a good way for citizens to become more aware of their water consumption, others see the project as a tactic by the City to raise taxes.

Just another way for them to make more money off of everyone. Stop building adding people that the system clearly can't support. A water meter won't make it better.

So if I put a meter on my home and pay for what I use, I can wash my car or water the lawn as I see fit now that I am paying for every drop?

Really not such a terrible thing if you don’t overuse water. I’d be happy to hear that people who water the street & sidewalk during a rainstorm will have to pay extra.

he water meter provides objective information on the amount of water used by the household. It makes no difference if you're a rational water user.

I like it. It will help prevent people from wasting water.
