On June 27 and this weekend, Parc Bédard in Saint-Lazare was the scene of mischief. In recent months, at least ten incidents of mischief have been committed there, according to an e-mail from the  town to Néomédia. 

According to Director of Communications and Community Relations Christelle Paré, the majority of mischief committed takes the form of graffiti. "As the security of our parks is a priority, we have equipped all of them with surveillance cameras and recording devices to identify any malefactors. In the event of mischief, such as that of June 27, the videotapes are quickly forwarded to the Sûreté du Québec. What's more, our parks are patrolled regularly by the municipal patrol," she said in the wake of the recent events.  

According to the  Town's estimates, the cost of the damage from this incident alone is estimated at $3,000. Will the suspect(s) have to reimburse the damage if they are identified by the Sûreté du Québec? " As such, no, because we let the Sûreté du Québec do their job on this side.Once we report the events to them, they take over. Now, I can only speak for mischief caused to City equipment and buildings. It can be different with private citizens and businesses who see their property vandalized, " concluded Ms. Paré. 

For its part, the Sûreté du Québec indicated that the investigation is continuing.Ville de Saint-Lazare reminds residents that they can immediately report any suspicious activity to the Sûreté du Québec (911) or the municipal patrol (450-319-50 00).
