Firefighting event draws children to Olympic Park

Dozens of children learned about firefighting, fire prevention, saw firefighters in action and even experienced what it's like to be a fire fighter during a hands-on event at Olympic Park in Pincourt on June 27.
The event was hosted by Judith Boyer, a firefighter and fire prevention expert and other fire department personnel from the Pincourt\Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot fire department.
It was the perfect event for the firefighter and her colleagues to answer questions from the elementary school children.
Boyer engaged the youngsters in an interactive exchange, asking them questions about the importance of smoke alarms and what to do when they go off.
The children also took turns sitting in a fire truck and held their hands in front of a stream of water from a fire hose so they could feel the intense water pressure.
Boyer was accompanied by several colleagues who were delighted to show off one of their fire trucks and other equipment. Preventionist Daniel Garandel also took part in the presentation. Stéphan Séguin, Assistant Director of the fire department was also present. The activity lasted well over an hour.
