Stolen car police chase ends with two arrests

Sûreté du Québec police officers from the Harwood Boulevard station attempted to intercept a stolen vehicle travelling east on Highway 40 in Vaudreuil-Dorion, but the vehicle refused to stop.
A spike mat was used during the pursuit and the vehicle drove over it. The driver then took exit 35, abandoned the vehicle near chemin des Chenaux and boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and fled on foot.
A search was conducted and the driver was found in another vehicle on rue des Malards. Both persons were arrested and taken to the station where they were interviewed by an investigator. Police confirmed the getaway vehicle was stolen.
The fleeing driver, a 24-year-old man from Pierrefonds, was released and is expected to appear in court at a later date on charges of fleeing, dangerous driving and receiving stolen property.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 21-year-old from man from Mercier was released and is expected to appear in court at a later date on an accessory charge.
