A smog  warning has been issued for the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region by Environment Canada. The warning is expected to end this evening  but atmospheric conditions are likely to lead to a deterioration in air quality until then.

Environment Canada said high concentrations of fine particles "due to wildfires in Quebec, will lead to poor air quality in many areas today. For the greater Montreal area, air quality could deteriorate as early as this afternoon," they said.

High concentrations of pollutants could persist until Tuesday. Smog particularly affects children with asthma and people with respiratory or heart conditions. They are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activity until the smog warning is lifted.
