Watering restrictions have been imposed throughout Hudson. The conservation measures which came into effect on Wednesday are meant to preserve the town's water supply especially for emergency situations including firefighting.
The town's website informed its residents the restrictions are meant to preserve its limited water resources because of a recent surge in demand and a lack of rainfall.
The watering of lawns, trees and shrubs, the filling of pools, vehicle washing and using water outdoors for any reason is prohibited.
The town also suspended issuing permits for the watering of new lawns, newly planted trees and shrubs and the filling of new pools. The community patrol will make regular rounds to ensure residents comply with the restrictions.
The only exceptions are the watering of vegetable gardens and edible plants in the ground or in pots and/or gardens, and flowers and other plants. Watering must be done manually with a water container only.
The town's Community Patrol will make regular rounds throughout the town to ensure residents comply with the restrictions which are meant to ensure there is sufficient water available for drinking, cooking, sanitation and especially firefighting.
"We understand these restrictions may cause some inconvenience. Please be mindful of your water usage during this time and adhere to these temporary restrictions. Your efforts will contribute to preserving our water resources and the well-being of our community," the town's website stated.
The town will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide regular updates. Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to contact town hall by email at [email protected].
