Néomédia got a rare look inside the unfinished Pincourt arena on Sunday, May 21. A large gaping hole at the bottom of a plywood panel on the north side entrance allowed the photographer to take exclusive pictures of the interior from the outside.
The inside, which was lit up from daylight filtering in through the uncovered windows, was empty and stark. There were some small garbage piles on the concrete floor near the entrance, graffiti scrawled on some pillars and on the west side walls, a few water puddles, but nothing else.
It is now 20 years since the arena project was first announced. Various attempts have been made to revive the project but none of the proposals moved forward.
A new plywood panel has since been installed that completely covers the north entrance on a return visit as of May 28.
