Several Pincourt residents took advantage of a free dental cleaning service that was provided courtesy of town's Ville en Santé health committee at the École secondaire de Chêne-Bleu in Pincourt on Saturday, May 27.

Several dental hygienists volunteered their time including Catherine McConnell. "We're just giving back to the community. We study these professions to be able to take care of people and all we want to do is take care of these folks," said McConnell.

The initiative was conceived by Joy Maderazo who began providing free dental clinics in Pincourt and several West Island locations three years ago. She also operates a mobile dental clinic called Clinique mobile dentaire Tooth to Tooth.

"We started doing this here with the help of Ville en Santé which is sponsoring this event. I also have to thank Gift from the Heart for their generous donation of dental supplies," she said.

"I also want to thank all the dental hygienists who are here today providing their services," she added. 

Maderazo plans to expand the free clinics into the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. "We have great surprises. We're just starting so keep and eye on us," she said.

In addition to the free dental cleaning another initiative allowed people to get a pair of prescription eyeglasses at a reduced price.

"It's a great event. A lot of people that need dental service are here and we also have eyeglasses at good prices. Ville en Santé did a great job organizing this event," said Pincourt Mayor Claude Comeau.
