The eastbound lanes of Highway 40 will be completely closed between the Morgan Blvd sector in Baie d'Urfe and the entrance from Saint Charles Blvd in Kirkland beginning this Saturday, May 27.
Traffic will be diverted in the opposite direction starting at 8 a.m. The closure is to allow for the reconstruction of the concrete pavement along that stretch of roadway.
In order to reduce the impact on road users, three lanes will be open in each direction during the respective morning and afternoon rush hours and two lanes in the opposite direction, according to a press release from the provincial Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
Construction will continue until December when the roadwork is expected to be completed. The speed limit will also be reduced to 90 km/h along the entire length of the stretch of highway during reconstruction.
Eastbound motorists heading for eastbound exit 49 at Chemin Ste. Marie and exit 50 at Saint Charles Ave will be able to get there via a marked corridor from from Exit 44 at Morgan Blvd.
A temporary sound barrier will be installed between Rue Gérard-Guindon and Chemin Ste. Marie to reduce the noise level near a residential area in Kirkland during reconstruction.
