Bike Month
In Vaudreuil-Dorion, we share the bike lane

Par Salle des nouvelles
To celebrate Bike Month this year, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is launching the Ici, on partage la voie cyclable! campaign, which aims to persuade bike lane users to show respect for all other users.
These paths have become multifunctional over the years as cyclists, joggers, walkers, in-line skaters and others have begun to make use of them. That is why it is so important to raise awareness among users so everyone can have a pleasant experience.
"The City has developed a network of bike lanes that now covers more than 55 km and we are really proud of this achievement! These lanes are accessible to all, but in order to use them safely and enjoyably, it is essential that users learn to respect each other”, explains Guy Pilon, Mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion.
This campaign will make its appearance in various media such as the City's website, social media and posters throughout the territory.
This project was made possible thanks to the participation of Vaudreuil-Dorion citizens, who represent the users of these bike lanes. Metal panels will also soon be installed next to bike paths, reminding users that everyone has their place there and that remaining courteous is essential.
With the implementation of these measures, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion hopes that users will be able to travel more safely on bike paths no matter what season.
Good practice and compliance with rules
The Highway Safety Code applies to everyone, and respecting it is essential to make sharing the road with other users as pleasant as possible. Unforeseen events can occur: people emerging between two cars, doors opening, motorists who forget to use their turn signals, etc. It is therefore important to pay attention and stay focused on the road.
It is also important to remain vigilant at intersections by making eye contact with other road users. Caution is especially advised at intersections where right turns are allowed on a red light.
Finally, to anticipate dangers and unforeseen events on the road, travelling at a moderate speed, between 15 and 20 km / h, is highly recommended in order to have enough time to react.
Plan your trips
The interactive map on the City's website displays the current network of on-street and off-road bike lanes. Citizens are invited to consult it as needed before moving from one point to another
