Vaudreuil-Dorion residents of all ages are being invited to participate in a new event aimed at getting people from all generations to get together and take part in a wide range of activities.

The program - Les rendez-vous intergénérationnels - is being presented by several community agencies including the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion which will participate together for the first time.

It will take place from May 23 to May 27 during the Semaine québécoise intergénérationnelle and include an Open House Day at Édifice de la Croisée, a community-based venue open to everyone of every age.

"This event was created by representatives and partners who are members of the Intergenerational Committee to help people of all ages connect and work together," said Chloé Marcil, the city's Director of Culture and Community Life.

"What was originally meant to be a day of interaction has now evolved into a beautiful, diversified program for everyone," Marcil added.

A wide range of activities are planned including cooking workshops, gardening presentations, the reading and creation of a collective work, a movie presentation, walks, planting activities, and a gathering that will feature various booths, music, a picnic and much more.

"Intergenerational relations were the basis for our first community forum in 2021. We felt this was an important concern and created an Intergenerational Committee. We also had several meetings with our various partners to discuss the issue," said Pascale Lauzon, Director of the city's Intergenerational Committee.

"This shows we are truly committed to create opportunities for people of all generations to get together. We also created a rich and diversified program for the first edition of Les rendez-vous intergénérationnels. We invite all our citizens to come and participate," said Lauzon.

The full program is available on the city’s website at ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca, under the Recreation and culture / Community life / Intergenerational meetings webpage tab. Advance registration is required for some activities.
