Quebec announces $1.8 million for affordable and social housing in Soulanges
The Villa Wyman in Hudson will receive a financial aid package of $1,805,000 from the provincial governemnt. The announcement on May 12 by Soulanges MNA Marilyne Picard.
Located on the site of the former Wyman United Church on Main Street in Hudson, the villa will have 18 affordable housing units for seniors, 80 percent which will be subsidized. The province will invest $4,255,326.
The funds will help accelerate the construction of social and affordable housing in order to make it accessible to the population of Vaudreuil-Soulanges as quickly as possible.
"I am delighted that our government is ensuring the realization of housing projects that will benefit vulnerable households in Soulanges. We support the efforts made by our valued partners to ensure that projects such as the Villa Wyman are completed as quickly as possible. These investments are necessary, especially in the current context, so that families can soon benefit from housing that is adapted towards their needs," said Marilyne Picard.
"The Quebec government is proving that it keeps its commitments and continues to make affordable housing a priority. Accelerating the construction of social and affordable housing is a major challenge that requires solid cooperation between all the players. The money invested by the province in various regions of Quebec are a sign of our unequivocal support for municipalities and developers who are partners in achieving our ultimate goal of providing adequate housing for every Quebecer," said France-Élaine Duranceau, Minister responsible for Housing.
