Dandelion Challenge: NDIP joins in
Like many other cities and municipalities in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the City of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot is participating in the Dandelion Challenge and will be letting these yellow flowers grow throughout the month of May to safeguard the food supply of bees and other pollinators during this important transition period.
This initiative is part of the City's overall effort to promote biodiversity and protect pollinators, which play a crucial role in plant pollination and agricultural production.
Some of the fields and sports fields will require mowing and maintenance to ensure they are ready for summer activities.
"We are pleased to help preserve one of the main sources of food for pollinators in the spring," explains Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot Mayor Danie Deschênes. "We will be delaying the mowing of many municipal parks and grounds to give bees a helping hand and we invite residents to do the same."
The City confirms that regular maintenance of all municipal grounds, parks and sports fields will resume as usual in early June.
