Flood waters have flooded the basements of at least 31 houses in Hudson located next to the Lake of Two Mountains, according to the town's website.

Another 39 residential basements are at risk of being inundated as flood waters continue to slowly rise. The town says that water levels have risen 19 centimeters in the last 24 hours and are now at 20.21 cubic meters.

The town expects water levels to keep rising and reach 24.21 cubic meters and could begin receding after May 5 depending on weather conditions.

Firefighters are visiting every residence impacted by the flooding to assess each situation. Sandbags can be picked up anytime from the municipal garage located at 525 Main Road anytime.

Access to Jack Layton Park is closed at Halcro as well as the pedestrian bridges leading to Sandy Beach and the adjacent woods.

Residents living along the waterfront whose private wells have flooded are urged not to drink the water until it has been tested to determine if it has been contaminated with lake water. Anyone working on their flooded properties are also urged to be cautious.
