A merger has been announced by Hockey Mineur Ile Perrot (HMIP) and the Association de Hockey Mineur Vaudreuil-Dorion (AHMVD) for all Double Letter Hockey Teams from the U11 (atom) to U18 (midget) age categories for the 2023-2024 hockey season. The new merger replaces mergers from the previous hockey season from both associations.

Recreational (Single Letter) hockey teams will not be affected by the merger as the HMIP and AHMVD will continue to host their own Single Letter teams comprised solely with players from their own respective associations.

As the hockey landscape within the province and specifically in the Lac St. Louis region emphasizes less teams at the Double Letter level, this merger meets thee needs of the region because of the close geographic proximity of both associations.

The merger of the Double Letter programs will create teams that are more competitive. This process is also being adopted by other minor hockey associations in the region. The merger of both associations will provide benefits for all members of each minor hockey association regardless of the level played.

The merger will not have an immediate effect as each member must still register with their respective home association when registration for the 2023-24 hockey season.

The volunteer leadership of the HMIP and AHMVD realize the changes may raise numerous concerns and questions. The leadership reassures their members the announcement is the result of numerous conversations and meetings where all aspects of the merger have been discussed and agreed to in an open and transparent manner.
