A fire broke out shortly after 10:30 a.m. this Tuesday in a residence on route Harwood in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Fortunately, the occupants were able to evacuate the house quickly. Only that one of the three structures that made up the residence was heavily damaged.

Shortly after the arrival of the firefighters, the roof of the structure collapsed with a loud bang.

About 30 firefighters were assigned to the fight and to the transport of water, considering the absence of fire hydrants in the area. Crews from Rigaud, Sainte-Marthe, Les Cèdres, Hudson and Saint-Lazare were called in to reinforce the Vaudreuil-Dorion brigade. The Pincourt firefighters covered the territory.

At the time of writing, the cause of the fire had not been determined. Route 342 between Cote Saint-Charles and Route 201 was still closed to traffic.
