Like Flowers on a Molten Lawn
A fourth album for Matt Holubowski
Hudson native singer-songwriter Matt Holubowski will release his fourth album, Like Flowers on a Molten Lawn, on March 24.
A first single, End Scene, has been available for a few weeks now.
"End Scene opens with the words 'here we go,' which on the surface suggests that we're getting ready for the album and song to begin. But it's much more than that. It's the deep breath we take before we step into the unknown. In the end of comfort and habit. In the beginning of something chaotic and new. It is accepting our fate with grace, rather than resisting it. We face it with a deep sense of calm and focus, concentrated on what is before us. It's the head-to-head with the end of the world, knowing that there will be an aftermath," explains the artist.
Lasting 6 minutes and 30 seconds, the piece, largely instrumental, is divided into three distinct movements.
The first part emphasizes the immensity of a life's work. The next part emphasizes the ease and speed with which everything can be erased. Something like the fragility inherent in existence.
Finally, the third part is meant to help in the transition from chaos to calm, grasping that the end is not only inevitable, but possibly desirable.
The public can discover Matt Holubowski's fourth album on March 24th. The artist will also perform on May 5th at Salle Albert-Dumouchel in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
