Gymnastics: Eight athletes on their way to the Provincial Cup
Eight Club Gymini athletes have earned a place at the Coupe provinciale de gymnastique to be held May 24-26 in Granby.
Makenzie Kra, Emma Lawn, Noémie Vincent, Marianne Blain, Marianne Di Turi, Sofy Panfilii, Anaïs Robert and Naomie Savoie earned their tickets to the provincial competition following their performances at the provincial qualifier held last weekend in Drummondville.
In the N4 category, competition was fierce for the young athletes in the group, but Mackenzie Kra managed to qualify in 26th place for the Coupe Provinciale.
Disappointed not to have qualified, Rosalie Lafrance and Simone Baillargeon nevertheless performed up to their coaches' expectations, displaying a great attitude throughout the competition with no falls.
In the N6 category, after only three weeks' convalescence, Marianne Di Turi made what her coaches described as a remarkable comeback. Despite her recent injury, she impressed with a 4th place finish on uneven bars and a polished floor routine, earning her a score of 9.225 out of 10.
Anaïs Robert also shone with a silver medal on vault, continuing to wow the judges with her talent and technique.
Sofy Panfilii demonstrated a consistent and solid performance on all apparatus, earning her a 5th place on bars and a 10th place overall.
Marianne Blain, despite a difficult start to the competition, pulled herself together and earned a place in the Coupe Provinciale thanks to her perseverance.
Naomie Savoie, despite a few obstacles on bars and beam, maintained a positive attitude throughout the competition, promising revenge next time.
Emma Lawn delivered a remarkable performance despite a last-minute injury, taking a well-deserved 8th place thanks to her ease on beam, securing her a place at the Coupe Provinciale.
Noémie Vincent was praised for her remarkable competition, overcoming a disappointing start on bars to finally shine, particularly on beam, guaranteeing her qualification for the Provincial Cup.
Last but not least, Justine Brennan, in her first year of provincial competition and her first provincial qualifier, performed with determination throughout.
