Galileo: second annual concert at Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal
Galileo announces its second concert of the 2023-2024 Season, Mendelssohn at School, on Thursday, June 20 at 7:30 pm, at the Église Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal on Île Perrot (1, rue de l'Église, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot).
A child prodigy in the manner of Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy produced works of great maturity while still in school. Galileo invites you to discover some of them through three string symphonies he wrote between the ages of twelve and fourteen, Nos. 1, 7 and 8, veritable compositional gems that rival each other in freshness and inventiveness.
What's more, after a three-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Galileo is resuming its Dans la cour des grands immersion program, inviting the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Vaudreuil-Soulanges to perform for fifteen minutes before the concert intermission.

Directed by Daniel Constantineau, Galileo is the only professional classical music company in the Montérégie-Ouest region. A chamber ensemble of 15 to 45 instrumentalists, depending on the repertoire, Galileo's main objective is to bring live symphonic music to a region that is generally deprived of it. It does so on period instruments, a perfect match for the historic character of the region.
