Closed since February 20 due to arson, the Walmart store in Vaudreuil-Dorion will reopen on May 16. At least, that's what Walmart Canada's Corporate Affairs department confirmed to Néomédia Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

"Given the condition of the branch and the extensive remediation required, we took the opportunity to bring forward a planned renovation. Customers will be delighted to be welcomed back to a branch with new signage, an expanded grocery section and many other improvements for a better shopping experience," said Felicia Fefer, Director of Corporate Affairs, via e-mail.

On February 20, some 30 firefighters were mobilized after a fire broke out in the household products section. An 18-year-old Hudson man, Luciano Minisini Burke, was arrested in connection with the fire.

This was not the man's first crime; on December 13, 2023, he was involved in another arson attack on a residence under construction on Chemin des Achillés in Piedmont.

Luciano Minisini Burke will return to court on May 8.
