Several medals won
Gymini gymnasts put in a fine performance at the 3rd regional competition
The third regional selection, from categories R3 to R6, took place on Saturday April 6 at Gym-Fly in Châteauguay. A total of 28 Gymni regional women's artistic gymnastics athletes took part in the competition.
In the R3 category (9-10 years), the medal harvest was very successful. Jade Garner won gold in all events, as well as gold on floor.
Laurie Guay won silver overall with a perfectly executed front salto, according to her coaches, earning her gold on vault.
Rebecca Sabourin also stood out, winning bronze overall and silver on beam.
R4 category
In the younger categories, promising talents also made their mark. Chloé Favreau in R4 (9-10 years) won bronze on beam and gold on floor.
Daniella Jahchan took 4th place with a floor routine. She also finished 9th on vault and bars.
Zoé Edwards shone, winning bronze on floor.
Despite a last-minute injury, Eva Cathcart entered the competition in 8th place on floor.
Anais Gagné took gold on bars and 6th place on beam.
Isla Longpré presented some fine routines, improving her score on the vault table, Gymini points out.
In the R4 category (11-12 years), Avery Hadjina placed 6th overall on apparatus and won silver on floor.
Anne-Michelle Dorval took gold on floor.
Noémie Mauran took 6th place on beam.
Maeva Depierreux stood out from the crowd, taking silver on floor and 4th place on beam.
Still in the R4 category (11-12 years) Léane Woo Sun Cheong shone on the various apparatus. Winning 7th place on beam and bars, and 6th place on floor, she took silver overall, demonstrating her mastery of all apparatus.
Tessa Zurba, impressed the judges, taking 4th place despite an injury sustained during the competition.
Eva Mayor, dazzled the audience with a gold medal on beam and 8th place on floor, finishing 7th in her category.
Bella Del Vecchio, in the R4 category (13-14 years), impressed with her best scores of the year.She won several podium positions, including silver on bars and bronze on all apparatus.
R-5 category
In the R5 category (11-12 years), Olivia Kra took silver on floor and 4th place on vault and uneven bars.
Livia Stars-Duffie captivated the audience with her floor performance.
Laurie Riendeau impressed with a second-place finish on apparatus and won two gold medals on bars and floor.
Finally, Romy Latulippe was rewarded with two bronze medals on floor and bars.
Other categories also saw notable performances.
Charlie Lavigne in R5 (13-14 years) showed great improvement, winning gold on vault table and uneven bars, as well as silver on beam and total apparatus.
Maya Abu Saliqa in R5 (13-14 years) also excelled with a silver medal on uneven bars and three gold medals on beam, floor and total apparatus.
Category R-6
Malorie Rozon-Rodrigue, in the R6 category (11-12 years), achieved her first competitive Lay-out , winning gold on uneven bars. She also took silver on vault, beam, floor and total apparatus.
Olivia Fortin took several gold medals, notably on vault, beam, floor and total apparatus. Her first Lay-out on bars was also a success.
Despite a virus, Maya Costa in R6 (13-14 years) placed 4th on beam, 5th on vault and uneven bars and won bronze on floor.
Léanne Pirsch in R6 (13-14 years) had her best competition of the year, increasing her total by 2 points and taking 4th place on floor, a bronze medal on uneven bars and total apparatus and a gold medal on vault.
Mika Trottier in R6 (15+) achieved her best performance of the year, increasing her total by 4 points.
This third regional selection was marked by some outstanding performances, highlighting the talent and dedication of gymnasts of all ages and categories, concludes Gymini, which is proud of its representatives who shone in the Châteauguay gymnasium.
