$46 500 for four Soulanges municipalities
Sonia Bélanger, Minister responsible for Seniors and Minister responsible for Health, and Marilyne Picard, MNA for Soulanges, have announced $46,500 in funding for the municipalities of Coteau-du-Lac, Les Cèdres, Les Coteaux and Pointe-Fortune.
This funding, which follows on from the 2023-2024 call for projects under the Municipalité amie des aînés (MADA) program, launched last summer, is part of Component 1 of the program, Soutien à la réalisation de politiques et de plans d'action en faveur des aînés.
Specifically, Coteau-du-Lac, Les Cèdres and Les Coteaux will each receive $12,000 to update their policies and action plans for seniors. As for Pointe-Fortune, the sum of $10,500 has been granted for the realization of such a policy and action plan.
"I'm delighted with this important support for the Soulanges community, to help our municipalities in their efforts to promote the active participation of seniors. We have everything to gain by giving them a growing role, because they have so much to offer. I'm delighted that our municipalities are mobilized to create strong intergenerational ties for years to come," said the MNA for Soulanges.
The MADA support program aims to adapt policies, services and structures affecting the built and social environments, in order to put in place conditions that optimize opportunities for active aging, and to encourage seniors to remain in their own homes.
