Brian Paul Dennison found unfit to stand trial for the murder of his wife
Nearly 18 months after his arrest on October 19, 2022 in Vaudreuil-Dorion in connection with the murder of his 90-year-old wife Annie Di Lauro, Brian Paul Dennison has finally been found unfit to stand trial. The octogenarian's case was on the docket of the Criminal Division this Wednesday, April 3, at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse.
When an accused is declared unfit to stand trial on account of mental disorder, his or her file is transferred to the Commission d'examen des troubles mentaux of the Tribunal administratif du Québec.
This body is responsible for rendering decisions concerning people who have been charged with a criminal offence and found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder.
Mr. Dennison remains in custody at the Institut de psychiatrie légale Philippe-Pinel de Montréal for the next stages of his case.
He is facing a second-degree murder charge for allegedly, according to the prosecution, taking the life of his spouse Annie Di Lauro, aged 90 at the time of the events in October 2022.
The man is forbidden to contact three people in his entourage and is represented by Me. Marie-Claude Latour.
