The Town of L'Île-Perrot launches its first participatory budget. A total of $50,000 has been reserved in the 2025 municipal budget for projects designed by citizens, for citizens.

Until June 24, 2024, citizens are invited to propose projects aimed at improving the living environment on Île-Perrot, by filling out the online form. At a later date, the City will conduct a preliminary screening and feasibility study of the ideas, before presenting those selected in a popular vote, and implementing the winning project.

For example, projects can be designed to benefit seniors, youth or the environment, such as adding park furniture, bike racks, artwork or vegetation. Linking the idea to L'Île-Perrot's 2023-2028 strategic planning can be an asset.

"With the participatory budget, the city gives citizens a voice. It's a way of mobilizing public intelligence and generating new ideas. To improve a collective space, it's a good idea to call on the imagination of those who live there. I'm convinced that Perrot residents will come up with many interesting proposals," says Pierre Séguin, Mayor of L'Île-Perrot.

Eligibility criteria

Any Île-Perrot resident aged 18 or over may submit a project, alone or as part of a team. Residents under 18 must be accompanied by an adult countersigning the form and supporting documents. Details of the eligibility criteria, the steps to follow and the project submission period can be found on the city's website.
