For the second year running, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion, in conjunction with a number of local partners and organizations, is inviting the public to the Rendez-vous intergénérationnels, to be held throughout the month of May.

The Rendez-vous will feature a number of activities bringing together people of all ages, with the aim of fostering relations between the generations.

The aim of this concerted initiative is to bring together several generations, break isolation and encourage an intergenerational exchange of knowledge, know-how and savoir-vivre in order to promote an open, inclusive and supportive society.

Activities will include, among others, an ancestral cooking class with high school students and senior volunteers, an intergenerational walk and kiosks hosted by organizations, a breastfeeding drop-in inviting grandmothers to chat and knit with new mothers, a picnic, a ciné-club followed by a talk, a tree planting, an art creation workshop and an alphanumeric literacy workshop.

“The work on Vaudreuil-Dorion's family and seniors policy has highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for local partners and citizens of different generations living in the area to meet and share. Although the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is coordinating this unifying initiative, we owe the project's success to the dynamic mobilization of some twenty community partners who share the importance of building bridges between generations. Several new partners have joined the initiative for this second edition of the Rendez-vous intergénérationnels, which is very motivating,” explains Pascale Lauzon, Section Manager - Social Development and Diversity.
