The 2024 edition of the Biscuit Sourire campaign will be held from April 29 to May 5 in 19 Tim Hortons restaurants in the Suroît region. Motivated by the record amount raised last year, the Suroît Hospital Foundation hopes to raise $150,000 this year.

Last year, the initiative raised a record $133,284.

Once again, interested Suroît citizens will be able to purchase one of the friendly cookies for $1.50 at Tim Hortons located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Les Coteaux, Coteau-du-Lac, Rigaud, Pincourt, Saint-Lazare and L'Île-Perrot.

" In 2018, we had raised less than $10,000 with this campaign. It's impressive to realize that, thanks to the mobilization of employees at participating restaurants and the growing appetite in our region, we could reach $150,000 this year ," says Michèle Cyr-Lemieux, Executive Director of La Fondation de l'Hôpital du Suroît.

In 7 years, over $404,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of Tim Hortons franchisees, local businesses, partners and Suroît residents.

Concrete support for our young people

The annual sugar campaign enables the Suroît Hospital Foundation to support the VIGILANCE project, a joint initiative of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest and community players aimed at improving the living conditions of the region's most disadvantaged school-age children.

The project aims to reduce the number of children referred to the Direction de la protection de la jeunesse for neglect. The health professionals working on this project are in contact with hundreds of families, and are working to develop parenting skills with the help of various tools provided by the Suroît Hospital Foundation.

In 2024, they are working to integrate the services of a physician into the multidisciplinary team of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest. This doctor will provide care for vulnerable children and families in a facility set up by the Suroît Hospital Foundation.

"Having access to a doctor in early childhood can greatly improve the chances of early detection of developmental problems, enabling children to reach their full potential. The project's success is largely due to the support of the Suroît Hospital Foundation and the funds raised through the Biscuit Sourire campaign.I invite every citizen to buy one for the health of our children ," says Isabelle Papineau, Director of Youth Programs and Public Health Activities at CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.

Working together for young people's health

In conjunction with the Biscuit Sourire campaign, Suroît businesses are invited to take advantage of the delivery service offered by the Suroît Hospital Foundation with the purchase of three boxes of Biscuit Sourire. Over 1,300 dozen have already been pre-ordered by corporations.

In a similar vein, the Suroît Hospital Foundation is calling on anyone interested in volunteering their time to decorate, bag and prepare Biscuits Sourire for delivery.

You can order them or register your interest in helping decorate them by contacting Julie Laframboise at (450) 377-3667 or [email protected].

The Biscuit Sourire campaign was launched in 1996 to raise funds to help the community. Tim Hortons restaurants, restaurant owners and millions of generous volunteers from coast to coast in Canada joined forces to break the sales record of over $19.7 million.
